David Schumacher visits Tom Beckhäuser

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup

tim2Perhaps this inspired Tom Beckhäuser (Franz Wöss Racing) in his double victory in the Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup at the Hungaroring. The Czech had prominent guests from the formula scene in Hungary. David Schumacher, son of former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher, was on site in the team of Franz Wöss Racing. Both know each other not only from the ADAC Formula 4. This year we saw each other several times in the Formula Regional European Championship. Tom Beckhäuser contested 4 race weekends there. At the end he was ninth in the Roocki ranking. David Schumacher finished third. While talking shop, Schumacher and Beckhäuser talked about a lot of current things at the end of the season. For David Schumacher the season is not over yet. He belongs to the contingent of ten former ADAC Formula 4 drivers who will compete at the Formula 3 Grand Prix in Macau in November. Schumacher will compete for the first time for the Sauber Junior Team by Charouz on the narrow Guia Circuit.

For Nico Gruber from Upper Austria, the Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup finale marked the end of a successful season. The driver from Team Hoffman Racing confidently won the Formula Renault classification after the seven races in 2019. The season plans at the beginning of the year were completely different for Nico Gruber. First he was active for the ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg e.V. in the team of Mücke Motorsport in the ADAC Formula 4. There he completed the first race weekend as a prelude in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. At the beginning of May he changed to Formula Renault to start a new chapter with Team Hoffmann Racing. At the 2nd race on the Red Bull Ring Gruber made a dream start to his Formula Renault debut with a double victory. Then Gruber felt very comfortable in Formula Renault and got to know the car better and better. In Imola he continued his winning streak. From the race in Most at mid-season three double victories were to follow. At the final on the Hungaroring he even managed a triple victory. Gruber not only dominated the competition in Formula Renault. One after another he managed to drive into the Formula 3 phalanx and to place in the secured midfield in the daily classification of the Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup races. "I'm just overjoyed," said Gruber after his fantastic finale in Hungary. Last season he was able to win the rookie title in the British Formula Ford. "My Team Hoffmann Racing has always provided me with a top car, many thanks also to my race engineer Christian Lipp, my father and my manager Harry Miltner from HM Sports," adds Nico Gruber. He is already working on his season plans for 2020. Initially, touring car tests are planned in Hockenheim.
