Full house in Styria

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Red Bull Ring (AUT)

Next weekend (17-19 May), the Drexler Formula Cup will be in Styria for its second round. The circuit trophy at the Red Bull Ring has been one of the highlights of the season for many years and fans will get a foretaste of the Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix. A total of fourteen races are on the programme. Both the Styrian grandstand and the paddock are freely accessible. The Grand Prix circuit in the Alps is not only about scoring points in the Drexler Formula Cup, the Austrian National Racing Car Championship and the FIA CEZ, the drivers of the ZINOX F 2000 Trophy are also competing for championship points. "We are expecting around 36 formula cars and drivers from eleven nations. There is a lot of interest and we can present the spectators with a very strong international field. After the season opener in Vallelunga, more drivers will start the season," says coordinator Franz Wöss. The Schwarzenberg Drexler Cup coordinator and team boss is really looking forward to the home race in the Alps with the picturesque backdrop of the Red Bull Ring.

After the opening race in Vallelunga, Francesco Galli (G Motorsport) has taken over the lead in the standings. The Italian scored a double victory and relegated current champion Benjamin Berta (Franz Wöss Racing) to second place after a hard-fought duel for position. Riccardo Perego is currently in third position, while Sandro Zeller took third place in Vallelunga in race 1 and was slowed down by a puncture in race 2. His Jo Zeller Racing team will start with three Formula 3 cars in Spielberg. Urs Rüttimann will be joined by Marcel Tobler, winner of the 2023 Formula 3 Trophy. Team Hoffmann Racing from Austria will also be at the Red Bull Ring with three Formula cars. Andre Petropoulos and Roman Hoffmann are entered in Formula 3 alongside Dr Norbert Groer (Formula Renault). With Tomas Chabr (Chabr Motorsport) and Roman Roubicek (JMT Racing Club), two Formula drivers from the Czech Republic are about to make their season debut. The circuit trophy promises plenty of excitement and a lot of motorsport, just as the fans want it. With the TCR Eastern Europe Series, the Formula 4 CEZ Championship, the races of the ESET Cup with GT and touring cars, the Clio Cup and Formula 3 with the Euro Cup, the racing programme is broadly based.
Two free practice sessions are scheduled for the Drexler Automotive Formula Cup on Friday (17 May). Qualifying is scheduled for 9.35 am on Saturday (18th May). The first round of the Drexler Formula Cup will take place at 3.55 pm. On Sunday morning (19th May), the lights will turn green for the second race at 9.55 am.
