Swiss day in Styria

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Red Bull Ring (AUT)

At the 2nd round of the Drexler Formula Cup, the Swiss Formula 3 drivers made their mark on the Red Bull Ring. Although they were unable to stop the day's winner Paolo Brajnik (SRB) in the more powerful E2-2000 Dallara in both races, Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing), Thomas Aregger (Franz Wöss Racing) and F3 returnee Marcel Tobler (Jo Zeller Racing) determined the Formula -3 standings. Sandro Zeller had secured pole position in the rainy qualifying and was able to leave Brajnik behind. In the first race on Saturday afternoon in dry conditions Brajnik used his horsepower advantage on the long straights of the Formula 1 track. Sandro Zeller held his own in the beginning, but had to let Brajnik go. Thomas Aregger stayed within striking distance of Zeller for a long time and kept Marcel Tobler behind him, who was fighting with the E2-2000 drivers Vladimir Netusil (Effective Racing) and Janos Magyar (Magyar Racing (Team) for the connection to the top. Behind the Swiss trio, Stefan Fürtbauer (Franz Wöss Racing) crossed the finish line ahead of Danny Luderer (Vogtland Racing) and Luca Iannaccone (Facondi Racing) after the 18-lap chase in the Formula 3 classification.

The second race had an almost identical finish. Brajnik was also unstoppable this time, although Sandro Zeller came within 6.885 seconds of the Serb. Thomas Aregger was close behind. He kept the upper hand against Vladimir Netusil. Marcel Tobler was able to improve again and kept Janos Magyar behind him. While Danny Luderer retired early in the 9th round, Stefan Fürtbauer was able to prevail against Christian Wachter (Rennsport Wachter). In the Formula 4 classification Luke Browning (US Racing) managed a double victory. In race 1, the reigning British Formula 4 Champion narrowly beat Taylor Bernard and Valentino Catalano (both BWR Motorsport). Patrick Schober (Procar Motorsport) won the duel against Benjamin Berta (Gender Racing) at the home race. Luke Browning dominated the 2nd race ahead of Valentino Catalano and Vlad Lomko (US Racing).Benjamin Berta turned the tables this time and kept Patrick Schober behind him. The Formula Renault classification was won by Jorden Dolischka (Top Speed) in both races.
