There was no match for the more powerful Formula 3 Open cars on the legendary Ardennes rollercoaster at Spa. Alesandro Bracalende took the pole position on Friday with a 2:16.525 min. After the start of the first race, the Dallara driver left the field early to take a commanding start-finish victory. Behind the Italian, Vladimir Netusil (Effective Racing) finished second with a razor-thin lead. With great effort, he was able to relegate Andrea Benalli to third place. The Formula 3 Open cars showed their performance advantage especially on the straights.

The Drexler Formula Cup comes to Spa Francorchamps for its 4th round next weekend (25-27.06.2021). 2017 was the last time the event was held in the Ardennes under the banner of the REMUS Formula Cup. "It's almost a good tradition that we race at the Spa Summer Classic. Of course, we are looking forward to top-class duels on the Ardennes rollercoaster," says coordinator Franz Wöss. The 7.004-kilometre Formula 1 circuit has always been considered a special attraction. More than 30 Formula cars are expected. Drivers from 10 nations will be there to provide excitement in both sprint races. How could it be otherwise, Formula 3 will be very strongly represented.

The weekend of the double winners

Drexler-Automotive Formula Cup - Salzburgring (AUT)

At the 3rd round of the Drexler Formula Cup on the ultra-fast Salzburgring, there was a double victory in each of the four categories. In both races, Vladimir Netusil (Effective Racing) beat the competition with the more powerful Dallara and celebrated a commanding success. As expected, the Czech had dominated the qualifying and set the fastest time with 1:18.964 minutes. Stefan Fürtbauer (Franz Wöss Racing) fought bravely and once again showed his talent in Formula 3. For a long time he stayed within striking distance of Netusil in both races, who, however, was able to make up metres in every lap on the long uphill passage. In Formula 3, Fürtbauer scored his first double win this year, which should give the young Austrian a further boost.

The XLR8 premiere at the Salzburgring will start with a new live experience. This will present a new digital format to the wider motorsport public. As in the previous year, the organisers have succeeded in putting together an attractive programme with 13 races from a wide variety of racing series. The highlight of the race weekend (11-13 June) can certainly be called the Touring Car Classics with a large number of touring cars from the golden DTM era meeting on the ultra-fast Salzburgring as they did in the 80s or 90s. The Drexler Formula Cup comes to the Salzburgring for its third round. In addition, there will again be classification points for the Int. Austrian State Racing Car Championship. In Formula 3, Sandro Zeller (Jo Zeller Racing) has taken the lead after his double victory in Monza. Thomas Aregger (Franz Wöss Racing) is only two points behind his compatriot. In Formula 4, Patrick Schober (Procar Motorsport) wants to establish himself in the lead with a victory at the Salzburgring and reduce the gap to Benjamin Berta (Gender Racing). With the double victory at the Red Bull Ring, Jorden Dolischka (Top Speed) has convinced in Formula Renault. Now it's up to him to hold his own against Robert Siska (Franz Wöss Racing) and Alexander Geier (Geier Motorsport) at the Salzburgring.
